Complementarity formation mechanisms in technology value chains

چکیده
Recent literature has begun to discuss complementarities between sectors and technologies in the context of sustainability transitions. This paper contributes this by theorizing complementarity formation mechanisms underlying such positive interactions within across technology value chains. It pursues empirically founded theory building based on a case study innovation battery-electric, hydrogen liquefied biogas Norwegian coastal shipping. Three chains are identified: synchronization, amplification, integration. Synchronization points need for co-development input user chain. Amplification refers necessary expansion match growing demand sectors. Finally, integration highlights potential convergence different one or more The concludes with discussion how policy may leverage foster zero‑carbon technologies.

متن کاملValue Chains for nutrition
Currently, close to 1 billion people suffer from hunger and food insecurity, defined as not having enough calories to live a healthy life. While this number is staggering, the number of people with poor access to nutritious foods rich in essential micronutrients—such as fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, and biofortified staple foods—is even more daunting. Deficiencies in micron...
متن کاملAbsolute value equation solution via dual complementarity
By utilizing a dual complementarity condition, we propose an iterative method for solving the NPhard absolute value equation (AVE): Ax−|x| = b, where A is an n×n square matrix. The algorithm makes no assumptions on the AVE other than solvability and consists of solving a succession of linear programs. The algorithm was tested on 500 consecutively generated random solvable instances of the AVE w...
متن کاملLinear complementarity as absolute value equation solution
We consider the linear complementarity problem (LCP): Mz + q ≥ 0, z ≥ 0, z′(Mz + q) = 0 as an absolute value equation (AVE): (M + I)z + q = |(M − I)z + q|, where M is an n× n square matrix and I is the identity matrix. We propose a concave minimization algorithm for solving (AVE) that consists of solving a few linear programs, typically two. The algorithm was tested on 500 consecutively generat...
متن کاملResearch Note - Information Technology in Supply Chains: The Value of IT-Enabled Resources Under Competition
I this study, we seek to better understand the value of information technology (IT) in supply chain contexts. Grounded in the resource-based theory in conjunction with transaction cost economics, we develop a conceptual model that links three IT-related resources (backend integration, managerial skills, and partner support) to firm performance improvement. The model differs from previous studie...
